When there's been such a tragic accident with fatalities, a family would eagerly accept the word of anyone in position of authority that their child was the one that survived. Between tubes, swelling, bruising, bloating no one looks like their normal selves in that condition. There would have to be a major difference in appearance normally to tip someone off (e.g. race, gender).

which is exactly what im saying, if even the family couldnt tell the difference, how was the hospital supposed to be able to just based on a description. these girls look exactly the same, they wouldnt have had time to do a DNA test or anything, these girls were not in their home town. when the family got there and went in the room they didnt even know that it wasnt their family member. what could the hospital have done differently besides obtain dental records and tell the family that it wasnt their daughter? Nobody thought to say anything about the scar on the girl until later on. that hospitals priority is saving a humans being life first and foremost and they were more worried about working on her than identifying her. its a sad situation but i dont see how anything else could have been done? I guess its a little different for someone who has worked in a hospital and whose wife works in an ER.
